How long do circuit boards take to machine?
Depends on the board size and complexity. We average about ten to fifteen minutes per print on medium sized boards (~2″x3″).
How are PCB’s and other materials mounted?
Double sided scotch tape is a simple yet effective way to hold down most materials. Double sided mounting tape can be used if scotch tape does not stick well to the material. We offer our favorite tapes at our online store.
Can I use my own CAM processor?
The CuScribe firmware is based on the GRBL open-source project. As long as your CAM processor is supported by GRBL, you should be fine. Our favorite CAM is Fusion 360, which we provide tutorial videos for.
Can I use my own G-code sender?
The CuScribe Control software is designed to simplify the user experience as well as add machine specific functionality. However, you should be able to use any other G-code sender that supports serial communications at 115,200 baud rates. Universal Gcode Sender works great with the CuScribe.
How are software updates handled?
Software updates to the CuScribe control panel are made available to users through our website. Flatcam, Fusion 360, and other third party software is supported by the third-party. We provide tutorials for Flatcam, Fusion 360, and the CuScribe control panel because we feel these are the best suited products for the CuScribe. They are also free for individuals and startups.
